The image above shows a list of all the available mouse bindings except for the three that work in any tool. Use the dialog's vertical scrollbar to see all the mouse bindings. The three bindings not illustrated are:
Any | Scroll up or down | Wheel-Rotate |
Any | Scroll left or right | Shift-Wheel-Rotate |
Any | Zoom in or out on Mouse Pointer | Ctrl-Wheel-Rotate |
Currently, mouse bindings are not configurable.
Most of the bindings are for click and drag gestures when using one of the Audacity tools. "Left", "Right" and "Middle" in the list refer to the mouse button to be clicked.
If your mouse has a standard scroll wheel or ball you can also use the "Any" gestures listed above for vertical or horizontal scrolling of tracks on the Audacity screen, or for horizontal zooming in or out on the mouse pointer. Horizontal scrolling and zooming using the mouse wheel or ball will require the SHIFT or CTRL key respectively to be held down. You can also use SHIFT with two fingers to scroll horizontally on Mac Trackpads.
Two-finger scrolling or zooming without modifier key does not work on Mac Trackpads but may work on most touchpads on Windows machines. You may need to apply this touchpad modification or to install special drivers for your touchpad.
Alternatively, hold both COMMAND and CONTROL while zoom scrolling.
